Sue Larkey training
We were privileged on Thursday to have Sue Larkey visit GPAC for in centre training. Sue Larkey is a highly qualified special educator who is currently working toward a Doctorate of Education focussing on inclusive schooling.
Sue delivered teaching strategies and behaviour support specific to our children’s neurodiverse needs. How to make adjustments and accommodations required for emotions specifically structures and adaptations for children with sensory and behaviour meltdowns and shutdowns. Sue also ran a workshop on 10 essential tips for understanding neurodiversity focussing on Autism, ADHD, ODA and PDA. Our Educators really embraced the training to further understand neurodiversity and the key strategies to implement.
First Committee Meeting
First Committee Meeting of 2025 is Monday 3rd February at 6:15pm. Please join us for our first meeting of the Term.
Change to Policies
We would like to advise of our changes we have made to our “Missing Child Procedure Flowchart” and our Delivery and Collection of Children Policy.
Staff will not be able to leave the School grounds to look for a child that has not arrived straight away to GPAC after the afternoon school bell. If your child with an afternoon booking at GPAC has not arrived at the Centre, we will contact the main guardian(s), emergency contacts. If all contacts are uncontactable or unable to confirm the whereabouts of your child, we will call the Police.
We will send the main guardian on your child’s enrolment a text message to say we have been unsuccessful in contacting them or any of the listed emergency contacts and "YOUR CHILD IS MISSING and we will now call the Police to help locate your child”.
This is why it is imperative to advise us that your child will not be attending GPAC if they are booked in for afternoon care. If subsequently your child is found by a friend or neighbours etc they are welcome to of course bring your child back to the Centre for us to care for them for the afternoon.
You can check, update and add emergency contacts at any time via the Xplor Home app https://support.myxplor.com/s/article/Home-App-Inviting-Contacts
Also, effective immediately, if you are running late and another of your nominated carers cannot pick your child by 6pm from the Centre, we will continue to care for your child until 7pm only (late collection penalties apply), at which stage we will take appropriate action, which may include contacting the Police to collect your child from the centre to care for them. For further information please review our Delivery and Collection Policy.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our environment safe for all children and the GPAC Educators.
